I’m OK with hurricanes and tropical storms being named, but not winter storms. It's not like we name every tornado or tornado-producing storm, after all. Just another way for The Weather Channel to sensationalize and scare folks into buying milk, bread, and eggs.

As a Filipino who;s used to seeing flooded cities and towns, that sucks. You’ve since recovered and made countermeasures, that much I’m certain.

Those pictures are from 2015. After the new ‘once in a hundred years’ flood defences had been put in place after the 2005 flood. The defences held but with record levels of rain, they were topped. Same area affected.
